Update: Anyone that leaves a song in the comments, I will check it out and report back what I think! This could be fun.
This isn’t about AIDS, at all, but in the spirit of sharing lightness and warmth—I can’t be serious all the time—I wanted to spotlight what is possibly the best crafted song I have ever heard in my life. Everything, from the lyrics, to the guitar playing, to the perfect complement of his voice—if I had to listen to only one song for the rest of my life, it would be this. The lyrics are so intensely beautiful and the ending is perfection.
I’d love to hear if you know this song and what you think of it. Do you have a favorite song, or singer, or artist that has affected you deeply? I’d love to know in the comments. I’ll be back to AIDS related material soon; I felt the need for some levity in the midst of so much heaviness.
Rebecca, this has made my day, what a great choice from you. I saw Chris Smither at winery in country Victoria years ago and it was a great day.
My favourite song is also a Chris Smither song, I Don't Know

The last verse says it all,
Who's got all the answers if it isn't you?
No one's got them all though some will say they do.
If they try to fool me, then what should I say?
You know if you're just polite they usually go away.
What's the dumbest question that ever there could be?
The only dumb ones are the ones that you don't ask of me.
And the wisest answer's one you learned a long time ago.
I don't know.

Mark Lanegan is my favorite singer!
There's not a ton of videos with single songs so I decided to share the Mad Season clip. For solo Mark- start with his album Bubblegum
Thanks Rebecca! I really enjoyed the song you shared
