Rebecca, since you're very well-versed on this topic, I find this a strange article. Yes, FM/CFS are, in a sense, similar to HIV/AIDS... but gays in the early 80s were taking absolutely massive amounts of drugs, be they anti-biotics (every day of their lives) or poppers or heroin or... whatever caused a 'high'. This is a massively different approach to life. FM/CFS/Lyme people are (almost) always 'high-strung'. This is almost universal. (white) HIV/AIDs, pre-AZT, are *always* drug users.
At some point 'science' has to win out over, um, and sorry to put it this way: whatever point you were trying to put in your article. Sure. I really do agree with your main point. But the gays massively put their finger on the scale.
Traditional Chinese medicine recognizes a connection between emotions and health. But it's also simplistic to say something going on in the body is merely pyschosomatic. I tend to thin toxins and nutritional deficiencies are primary causes of many health issues people have, ones that also get blamed on microbes.
As far as something like chronic fatigue syndrome, is it possible we're looking at a nutritional deficiency?
I've become very interested in thiamine because of its role in the body's energy pathways. If you're deficient in thiamine, everything else goes haywire.
Many modern medicines, including antibiotics, cause functional thiamine deficiency.
THANK YOU Neenyah for continuing to bring the ME/CFS aids-like illness to light. It's hard to believe that nearly 40 years after the Incline Village outbreak there are still so many physicians who are clueless about this illness. They continue to want to tell you that your immune system has always been like this and that your fatigue is psychosomatic, even though my husband and I have identical symptoms and our immune systems continue to decline. Prior to a specific incident, we were both extremely healthy. Infectious Disease doctors want nothing to do with you if you've tested negative for the standard viruses including HIV. UNFREAKIN REAL!! I had to do my own research over the past 10 years to try and figure out what the hell was happening to us. I finally understood once I read your book as well as the books by Hillary Johnson, Charles Ortleb and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. I was in total shock to think that this has all been swept under the rug.... a disease that has potentially killed millions of people and most likely they were totally unaware that they had it. I'm listing these exceptional books below so that as many people as possible can get the real background on this illness:
