I was alerted to the following post about the NFL player Aaron Rodgers, who apparently has suggested that Dr. Fauci conspired to “create HIV” along with the U.S. government. This old conspiracy theory is resurfacing, it seems.
This got the attention of my former distant internet acquaintance, Dr. Tara Smith (no relation), an “epidemiologist and science communicator,” per Wikipedia. (Emphasis is mine—what is a “science communicator?” A variant of a social media influencer?) She is also a professor of biology at Kent State University in Ohio, specializing in zoonotic infections and, in particular, resistant staphylococcus aureus. She has also long been one the loudest voices promoting HIV AIDS orthodoxy. She blocked me on X after I tagged her once. Here is her X post (sent by a source), which you, but not I, can access and/or reply to by clicking through.
This is a very simplistic categorization, and it is inaccurate to boot. She’s referring to the old somewhat artificial Duesberg/Perth divide, which isn’t as relevant as she thinks it is—we “deniers” (in scare quotes because “denier” is clearly a slur meant to discredit without debate) agree on far more than we disagree on. Furthermore, and this is important, the Perth Group never stated that “HIV does not exist.” They said—and I can’t believe I’m repeating this yet again—that “HIV has not been proven to exist and has not been isolated as an exogenous retrovirus.” Those two statements sound similar, but they are very different. You cannot prove nonexistence; you can only ever prove existence. A preponderance of evidence against a certain something cannot be proof that “something” doesn’t exist.
Regardless, since I have been blocked from Dr. Smith’s X account, I’d really be grateful if any of you, should you feel moved to do so, would go over there and leave her a comment on her X post challenging her position—if you could link to one of my recent articles (the 3 linked just now would be good options), that would be great, but certainly not required. She’ll probably block you, too, so I must give you fair warning, though I think it would be good to provide her some missing information. She is spoiling for a fight, yet retreats behind the block button when anyone sharpens their sword in her presence. This could get interesting.

If you’re a new reader and would like some background as to my views on HIV AIDS, including the “existence” question, please refer to this post and the links contained therein. My interview with Sam Bailey is also a great introduction.
I left a comment on her Duesberg vs Perth comment, "As if scientists are only allowed to believe one thing and never disagree."
I've never been on Twitter or X, so I hope one of your other followers will challenge her! Oh, and props to Aaron Rodgers for questioning the HIV orthodoxy. I believe he questioned the covid vax, too, and has even raised doubts about the official 9/11 narrative. Shows he has a brain and is willing to use it ;-)
