This song blew up in 1997 when I was working at a pub in London bartending, which I really loved as a job, despite my introversion. It always brings me back to that time in my early twenties when anything seemed possible. The trick, I think, is to realize that you don’t have to be a certain age to make things possible. You can do it at any age.
I’m also given to believe that this band’s politics are drastically different from my own (I think they’re full on socialists but I could be wrong), so I’ll leave you with the video and the question: what song or songs makes you nostalgic about your young adulthood?
Oh, and here’s the Chumbawamba video in case you want to watch:
Ah! I loved this song when it came back out, but it was popular at my junior high school dances. The whole album "Be Here" by Keith Urban reminds me of my early 20s, because I'd listen to it over and over while I went to visit my boyfriend who's now my husband. I didn't really ever get into the club scene, going to such a conservative college and marrying young, and so when I heard music that clearly was for that purpose, I would turn it off. I was SO pious. 😂 In fact, we had a "do not play" list for our wedding which included among other things, "Get Busy" by Sean Paul but I guess one of our guests really begged the DJ to play it. When it came on, I was so mortified that I said we needed to leave. So off we left for our honeymoon to "Get Busy" by Sean Paul playing in the background. 😂 I think it's hilarious now but young, naive Jenna was NOT happy about that
