"The cause of AIDS was announced at a conference before anything had been published in the scientific literature. To prove this case, and when the papers actually came out that HIV was supposed to cause AIDS - in the initial cohort of AIDS patients that Robert Gallo and his colleagues, fewer than half of his AIDS patients had any trace of HIV material; that should have been the end of this era, but instead they doubled down and the rest is history."
