Some months back, a reader recommended Wings for Marie Pt. 1 by Tool, which I fell in love with and which led me to discover Part 2, 10,000 Days (link to lyrics). Written in honor of his mother who passed away after being paralyzed for 27 years, I felt it fitting to post this in honor of my father, who died August 10, 2022.
This passage particularly spoke to me, but the whole song is brilliant and best heard on headphones.
Ignorant siblings at the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy
Spare me
None of them can even hold a candle up to you
Blinded by choice, these hypocrites won't see
But enough about the collective Judas
Who could deny you were the one who
Illuminated your little piece of the divine?
And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me
I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way
Your way home
H/t to Jennifer for the recommendation—these songs have given me so much comfort and I am deeply grateful.
Sending love to you may your Mom rest in peace. My loved one was paralysed for eight months. Love the track and the lyrics thank you so much. 🩷 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷
